Wonderment is a feeling of surprise, awe, and joy. These feelings are exactly what I wanted customers to experience when enjoying our treats.
Started in May 2013, Wonderment Bakeshop & Creamery crafted small batch artisanal ice cream sandwiches and shortbread tarts in Charlottesville, Virginia until December 2020.
Wonderment offered over 40 varieties of homemade ice cream sandwiches and 30 varieties of homemade pop tarts, sourcing local ingredients and rotating flavors seasonally. All items were made completely in house, which ensured full quality control and allowed for greater product customization.
BRANDING & DESIGN
Besides making a delicious product, we created an immersive and cohesive experience for our clients. We achieved this through our interactive vending experience (either cart or truck), tasting experience to choose event flavors, and customized packaging and signage that echoed the theme and design of each event. We enjoyed providing dessert for an array of event sizes - from small birthday parties to 250 person weddings and corporate events with up to 3,000 employees.
GROWTH
Starting at the farmer’s market level, Wonderment grew to become a popular dessert choice in the wedding industry, as well as the go to treat for school systems and companies.
Contract Value Increase
Wonderment grew steadily over the course of its seven year run and increased revenue per event by 36% from 2018 to 2020.
Product Reach
Wonderment made connections with local markets, retailers, caterers, and universities to grow the business in Charlottesville.
Event Focus
Wonderment shifted its focus to contract bookings and the event industry. Over a two year span, our annual events booked grew by 113%.
Throwback.
Before becoming Wonderment, my business was known as Sweet Sandies. We ran a Kickstarter campaign in the winter of 2014 to raise funds for new equipment.
